The living lab
Israel
The Living Lab Project was established by Ifat Nachman in memory of her son, Ilay Nachman, who was killed while heroically saving others during the Hamas terror attacks on October 7, 2023. Rooted in Ilay’s values and spirit, the project is a social-emotional learning initiative that helps individuals and communities navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and shape meaningful futures through connection, responsibility, and personal growth.
At the intersection of developmental psychology, leadership, and lived experience, Ifat transforms both Ilay’s story and her own journey of loss into a powerful educational framework. Guided by the philosophy of “The Living Lab,” participants learn to navigate uncertainty, develop an inner anchor, and turn life’s challenges into opportunities for growth and purpose. Through workshops, keynotes, and experiential programs, The Living Lab equips youth, adults, educators, and organizations with practical tools for resilience, leadership, empathy, and community building — reflecting the very values Ilay embodied throughout his life.
